Paul MacFarlane, operations manager for the Tim Hortons in Cole Harbour, said he heard an explosion of applause and watched Crosby walk through with the Cup and the Conn Smythe Trophy.

“I had never seen it before, it was awesome.”.

“Just to see the Stanley Cup in person is insane after you see it on TV and stuff”, 12-year-old camper Cooper Fink told the Penguins website.

Streamers and confetti fall around Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby as he holds onto the Stanley Cup while riding in the victory parade in Pittsburgh.

But it was at the local Tim Hortons where Crosby – who is phenomenally popular in his hometown – generated the most excitement.

“Hes a gentleman; hes awesome, ” said MacFarlane.

The coffee shop was one of Crosby’s favorites as a kid, so he decided that he would pay them back with a little visit while dragging along the most prestigious trophy in hockey. He stepped onto a wharf, the Cup aloft over his head, to cheers from hundreds of fans.

It is Crosby’s second time in his hometown with the Cup; the Penguins also won it in 2009. Posters are being sold at Cole Harbour Place for $10 a pop, with all proceeds going to the Sidney Crosby Foundation.
