Siemian impressed Broncos with steadiness, confidence

The Denver Broncos front office has stated that before the weekend they will announce its final list that will make the cut for the upcoming season.

Quarterback Mark Sanchez’s brief time in Denver has come to an end.

But, regardless of whether or not the Dallas franchise violated the league’s rules, the announcement made by the Cowboys clearly indicate that they have been in talks with Sanchez days before he was released by the Broncos. Anderson signed a four-year, $18 million deal in the offseason and Hillman re-signed on a one-year, $2 million deal after finding no interest on the open market.

Dak Prescott will likely be the starting quarterback against the New York Giants on September 11, but Mark Sanchez will provide some veteran expertise behind the rookie. On Thursday night, Sanchez didn’t play in the fourth preseason game, because he’s clearly destined to not be on the team.

Sanchez completed 66.7 percent of his passes and threw for 219 yards.

Bethel saw his first action of the preseason Sunday and didn’t look especially good, and Williams has struggled throughout preseason play, as well.

The Broncos have named Siemian the starting quarterback for now, though his inexperience may force a change down the line.

General manager John Elway met with the press at 3 p.m MDT, one hour after rosters were due and said the team had it’s No. 3 quarterback, but would not disclose a name.

Now the team is anxious that since Presscott has never started a regular-season game he may have some struggles to overcome as Romo’s replacement.

I respect what the team was able to do last season with having one of the best defenses ever. The Broncos felt comfortable enough with Lynch as their number two option that they were willing to part ways with the eight year veteran Sanchez. The loss of Manning and his longtime backup destroyed Elway’s long-held transition plan, but paved the way for youth to take over – namely a seventh-round draft pick few considered a viable successor to Manning.

Prescott has been phenomenal for the Cowboys this preseason.

Thanks to a quick three-and-out and a fumble by Barkley on their first two series of the game, the Cardinals found themselves trailing early, 10-0.
