Siemian’s 4 TD passes lead Broncos over Bengals 29-17

Very clearly being on the road in Cincinnati cause some troubles for the Denver Broncos. It is a rematch of a late season Monday Night game that saw the Broncos score a comeback win.

Emmanuel Sanders was Trevor Siemian’s favorite target on the day.

Let’s start with the team in question, the Denver Broncos.

Siemian had the best game by a Broncos quarterback in two years – since Manning was running the show – as Denver stayed unbeaten with a 29-17 win over the Bengals on Sunday.

Siemian was 23 of 35 for 312 yards with the four TDs and no interceptions for a 132.1 passer rating.

The former LSU running back is averaging a mere 2.6 yards per carry this season, leaving the Bengals offense to conduct exclusively through the passing game.

“That’s what we’ve been waiting for”.

On the other side of the field the Cincinnati Bengals are also dealing with an internal issues in getting off to a relatively disappointing start in the first couple of weeks. Bradley is now 12-39 in four seasons, the second-worst winning percentage of any National Football League coach with at least 50 games. Penalties by the Bengals gave the Broncos free first downs along the way, but they failed to cross the goal line and settled for a 20-yard field goal by Brandon McManus instead. “We were going down (the field) and we had a chance if I made the catch”, Green said.

On Denver’s next drive, Siemian found tight end Jeff Heuerman for a 29-yard gain (Heuerman’s first career catch) before hurling a 55-yard touchdown pass to Thomas on a third-and-11 and capping Denver’s victory.

While the Bengals passing game is among the best in the league, the team has struggled out of the gate running the ball in much the same way they did in 2015.

He recorded 9 receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns.

“Trevor played outstanding”, Sanders said.

Former offensive coordinator Hue Jackson – now head coach of the Cleveland Browns – knew exactly how to combine the Bengals’ run with the pass, constantly keeping opposing defenses guessing. That’s a surprise. And the biggest surprise of all, when it comes to Green’s performance on Sunday, was his fourth quarter drop on a third-and-three. One time was on a wobbly popup after Siemian’s arm was hit on the throw.

“Once we get up, its sacks and interceptions time”, Harris said. “The last two games we lost, we were better than those teams”. And Sanders got involved with the Broncos right away. But Siemian placed the ball perfectly, throwing it to where only Sanders could grab it, which he did for the 41-yard score.

OUT-OF-BALANCE OFFENSE: The Bengals could barely run the ball in the first two games. Jeremy Hill led in rushing with 22 yards in 11 carries while Giovani Bernard had 17 yards in five runs. Denver clamped down the rest of the way.

With this TD run, Hill has now given the Cincinnati Bengals a 14-10 lead over the Broncos, and it will be interesting to see how the Broncos offense responds.

“A lot of stuff we wish we could have back”, Hill said. “We just have to get more consistent, and it starts with me”.

But, Green thinks the quick turnaround is a good thing to help the Bengals get the loss out of their system and hopefully improve to 2-2 by next Friday.
