Siemian to get second Broncos preseason start

Siemian and Lynch are both expected to play more snaps than Sanchez in the Broncos’ third preseason game, which traditionally is a good indicator of pecking order.

The smart money is on either Mark Sanchez or Trevor Siemian jogging out with the first-string offense and a quick trigger finger by Kubiak, who will want some type of clarity heading into the final matchup of the preseason against the Cardinals and won’t be afraid to yank an underperformer. Kaepernick, however, has not been able to mount a challenge after being sidelined with arm fatigue.

The smile and occasional jokes with teammates belied the task ahead.

Kubiak said Siemian, Sanchez and rookie Paxton Lynch will play an equal amount Saturday against the Rams.

“He’s always been in the mix”, Kubiak said of Lynch, via comments distributed by the team.

“The Broncos don”™t know which guy will win the job. On the next drive Sanchez was once again stripped of the ball and they failed to score.

“There’s a lot to think about”, Siemian said. Will Sanchez be the victor by default despite his faults, or will the Broncos pick Siemian despite him being rattled by the pick-six? I wouldn’t be surprised if he topped that against the Broncos, especially behind San Francisco’s offensive line that created running lanes during the week in practice. “There’s no excuse for that”. Poor, poor quarterback play. Big plays in training camp have been mixed with interceptions and miscues.

The 2015 World Champion Denver Broncos are at home in week 2 of the preseason against the San Francisco 49ers. And then he threw a pick. “I knew this was going to take some time”. “That’s the message I’ve received”, he said. “Two plays. Two really bad plays that took away from a great performance and from potentially winning the job”.

Vance McDonald: It was a mostly good game for McDonald, who had three receptions for 38 yards. “We look at Trevor, and we had a great first drive”. Siemian jammed his shoulder while trying to make a diving tackle on San Francisco safety Eric Reid during the interception return. Here are five things, however, that you should keep your eye on during the game. Normally, I would criticize Gary Kubiak for not making a decision, but I’m not quite sure Kubiak can make any sound decision based on our sample size so far. Only $1M is guaranteed in Sanchez’s contract but the team could save money if they release him to free agency and go with Siemian as the starter. Siemien is getting the nod over Mark Sanchez and rookie Paxton Lynch. But there’s a chance he could see snaps at right guard for the first time in his National Football League career. His passer rating is 86.3.

“I’m going to play the guy that I think is best for our team”. Obviously we’ve got some mistakes that we’ve got to get rid of, but we’ve made some mistakes in the past, and you find a way to overcome them.

Sanchez started the first preseason game for the Broncos and looked okay. But he refused to set a firm timetable. In what order, Kubiak wouldn’t say.

One thing the other two quarterbacks have shown is that they won’t be flawless either, so if there are going to be the mistakes, it may as well be with the player that has the most talent.
