Sierra Vista police investigating IRS, lottery phone scams
The caller leaves a message each time saying she owes money to the IRS and they’ll file a lawsuit against if her she doesn’t call back.

Recently, it has been reported that the scammers have created a network of phone numbers in order to fool their victims into thinking they are legitimate. Victims could be told they have a refund due to try to trick them into sharing private information.
Police say the IRS does not call people and will only send correspondence for unpaid taxes or any other IRS business through the mail.
You’ve probably heard about this IRS scam before, but now authorities say the scammers are becoming more agressive.
The fake IRS calls have been rampant across the country, according to the BBB.
The scam involves telephone callers claiming to represent the IRS.

The Lawrence Township Police Department would like to warn residents that the IRS phone scam is still prevalent in the area. “These criminals prey on the honest nature of citizens”.
