‘Significant’ ankle injury could keep Russell Wilson out of week 2

Wilson suffered an ankle injury in the Seahawks’ 12-10 home victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.

Wilson played well enough on the injured ankle to rally the Seahawks to the win with a touchdown pass to Doug Baldwin in the final minute. But NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday morning that Wilson’s injury has been deemed “significant”.

Carroll did say the team may look to bring in another quarterback with Trevone Boykin listed as the team’s only backup, but that they are only having early discussions at this point.

Wilson has never missed a practice, much less game time.

Head coach Pete Carroll expects Wilson to play next week against the rams as his x-rays and MRI came back negative. Russell Wilson does incredible things with a garbage offensive line.

“When I’m 43, 44 years old and still playing, that’s probably what I’ll look like out there”, Wilson said.

One might wonder whether Seattle would be better off sitting Wilson for a game it should win going away. Carroll said Prosise has a sprained wrist and the cast was protective.

“The defense, they played their tails off, really stuck with the offense all day”, Tannehill said. “He seemed to be scrambling for his life every play behind a struggling line, so you have to worry about him taking many more hits if he can’t move on that bad ankle”. The one issue with these Seahawks resembles something that also has dogged the Mike Tomlin-era Steelers, and it drives their fans insane: They seem to play down to their opponent.

The quarterback shrugged off the injury after the game saying: “I’ll be all right”.

We will get the easy one out of the way first.

The Rams have also been uncommonly opportunistic against Seattle of late, returning a punt 75 yards for a touchdown in the opener a year ago and a fumble for a touchdown to take a lead they never surrendered in the win at CenturyLink.

Even if Wilson appears to be in good physical shape, and injury free next week, should the Seahawks give him some rest anyways to be precautionary?

Robert Griffin III will miss at least eight games – and potentially the season – after breaking a bone in his left shoulder during his regular-season debut with the Browns on Sunday. But then again, are Idaho fans even loud at games?

Added running back Thomas Rawls: “I was never really anxious about it. Russell’s a fighter, and he’s going to fight to the end”. The coach said Germain Ifedi “has a chance” to play at Los Angeles but the team won’t know on his sprained ankle until late in the week.
