‘Significant number’ of Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda tumble dryers recalled
Indesit, the Italian domestic appliance manufacturer, has recalled two tumble dryers sold between April 2004 and October 2015 – the large air vented dryer and condenser dryer.

A spokesman for Indesit could not be reached to give further details. Indesit said that it had discovered that in a few rare cases excess fluff could come into contact with the heating element and catch light.
A dedicated website has been set up for customers to find out if their machine is one of the ones affected.
With around 30 million Hotpoint, Indesit and Whirlpool machines in service around the United Kingdom, the company have refused to speculate on how many of its products would be affected.
“As part of the fix program, we are contacting the owners of affected appliances to arrange a free of charge upgrade”.
Whirlpool acquired Indesit in October 2014, at which point Whirlpool’s safety experts began working with Indesit.
It is not clear how many appliances have been affected but the company warns the numbers may be “significant”.
The machines are safe to use as long as they are not left unattended.
The company added: “Additionally, the lint filter should be regularly cleaned after every cycle and proper venting should be ensured in accordance with the original instructions for use”.
If action is needed, an engineer will visit to mend the machine – a process that the company said could take an hour.

Indesit has made the announcement today and says that it affects Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda tumble dryers.
