Significant rainfall expected for London area

Make sure you bring your rain gear if you’re heading outside on Tuesday as Environment Canada is calling for “significant widespread rainfall” in Toronto and most of Southern Ontario. Following a weak tornado in DE last week, Environment Canada has confirmed another twister has touched down in southern Ontario.

A low pressure system has been slowly tracking towards the province from Texas. It will tap the same tropical moisture which has been responsible for flooding rains across Louisiana. The forecast calls for around 5 mm of rainfall before sunrise Tuesday.

Environment Canada says the Hamilton area can expect between 25 to 40 mm or rain, while some locations may see more than 60 mm.

The forecaster has issued a special weather statement for London and Middlesex County.
