Sikh Politician Shot Dead In Pakistan

According to reports, unidentified gunmen opened fire on Singh while he was on way to his home.

“Soran Singh was shot in the head and eye”, Pir Baba SHO Mir Ghazab confirmed.

The PTI said Islam’s laws and the Pakistani constitution provided for the protection of religious minorities. Singh was a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the party led by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan.

A Pakistani Sikh politician was on Friday shot dead by identified assailants near his home in the country’s restive northwest.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Discrimination and violence against minorities is commonplace in Pakistan where Muslims account for more than 90 percent of the population.

Singh was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

Soran Singh was a special adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Minority Affairs.

Singh remained a member of JI for almost nine years and had joined PTI in 2011.
