Silva: Chelsea in UCL harder than past year
For all of their domestic struggles, they have performed to a greater level in the Champions League.

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva has claimed that Chelsea’s chances in the last 16 of the Champions League could be hampered by not having a winter break.
Silva is wary of the hurting Blues, however, and knows just how desperate they will be in Europe. “If you know a little about football, today PSG is the favourite to advance to the quarter-finals, and that is a great responsibility”, he told Omnisport after the draw. We sort of have the obligation to pass this phase.
“According to the draw made in Nyon, Switzerland, on Monday, the Ligue 1 defending champions are due to meet the English Premier League winners in the Champions League knockout stage for the third straight time”, reports Xinhua. If you play a derby it doesn’t matter if you are in a better moment, in the pitch is all the same.
Their fortunes are in stark contrast to Chelsea’s, as the Stamford Bridge outfit only have four wins, three draws against eight losses from 15 games played.
Speaking to Stade 2 [as reported by Paris Fans], Di Maria has outlined his hopes for his time at PSG, and has confirmed that he wants to win the Champions League with the French giants.
“We’re well equipped. We proved last year that we were competitive – this year we’re even more so”.

PSG’s dominance of Ligue 1 and Chelsea’s woeful Premier League season should not influence their Champions League clash, says David Barnard. “I hope everyone will be in good health to take on Chelsea and to fulfill our objectives”. “We wanted to avoid the strongest teams”.
