Silva may miss out for Man City but Guendogan set to play

The 4-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth saw City stay top of the table after five wins out of five and ensured Guardiola retains his flawless start to life in English football. We have to use the players every few days.

“Our fans have to know we need them in the Champions League”.

De Bruyne is not one of the Premier League’s off-field showmen. In the recent past we did some good things but there are still many things we can do better. We had our moments, we had our chances, and didn’t make the majority.

“With our supporters and our songs, we are stronger”.

“I don’t know him too much but from what I can see he is a guy who likes to be at home with his wife and kids”, said Guardiola.

Guardiola is likely to call up youngster Kelechi Iheanacho for Aguero while Nolito, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna could also be in line for recalls. “The Champions League is one of the biggest club stages you can reach and I think for players it is an honour to be part of it”.

“I have seen what happens when the trainer didn’t win, they have been so critical and they didn’t deserve that”.

Guardiola refused to take any credit for Aguero’s blistering start to the campaign, but said he is encouraging the striker to work hand in hand with his teammates.

“The last games showed that we always play a very good first half – we did it against (Manchester) United and West Ham – and the second half was a bit more hard for us”, said Gundogan. Not all the teams can play this competition. “Considering the opponent, the pressure that we had, we played really, really good”. “Tomorrow I am going to feel that”.

Aguero converted from close range following Aleksandar Kolarov’s driven eighth-minute cross, and doubled his tally shortly before the half-hour mark from the penalty spot.

Guardiola praised Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who scored the opening goal and was involved his side’s other three goals in collecting the man of the match award.

“This was the most important game in the season to now”, he added.

“His talent in the box to score goals is natural”, Guardiola said. “I don’t know if it’s definitely going to happen”. “It’s not untypical of City”, Moenchengladbach coach Andre Schubert said. I think we have made a great performance last night.

Guardiola said: “We were at home and asleep with our wives and people, our kids”.
