They were coming into the campaign with a young freshman that everyone was comparing to LeBron James in phenom Ben Simmons, as well as some other mildly talented players.

Head coach Johnny Jones took responsibility for his team underperforming all season and said they will use this time “to get better and start preparations for next season”.
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – LSU freshman Ben Simmons’ college career could be finished.
Simmons will sign with Klutch Sports, an agency funded by LeBron James, according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Within the basketball industry, it has been understood that Klutch has been the only real pro representation that Simmons has considered. Simmons will be represented by Rich Paul. He’s the presumptive No. 1 pick in the draft.
“I just get a lot of advice from him”, Simmons said of James in a Yahoo interview late past year. A 2014 graduate of the LeBron James Skills Academy, Simmons is expected to train for the draft in either Los Angeles or Cleveland.
A 6-10 native of Australia, Simmons, 19, averaged a double-double – 19.2 points and 11.8 rebounds – this season but has been criticized for his occasionally indifferent play.
Simmons wasn’t necessarily the best basketball player in college basketball this past season – that honor will likely go to MSU’s Denzel Valentine or Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield – but he was without a doubt one of the standouts. Barring a surprise turn of events, Simmons’s college career is over.

The Tigers’ season ended Saturday with a fitting 33-point shellacking by Texas A&M in the conference tournament semifinals, having dropped five of their last eight after earlier non-conference setbacks against Charleston, Houston and Wake Forest.
