Forget the hype. Simone Biles is immune to all of it. “It makes us feel like super girl”, she said with a wink.

It’s Simone’s second gold medal of the games, with teammate Alexandra Raisman getting silver and Russia’s Aliya Mustafina taking the bronze.
“Everything was going through my head but mainly it was like I had finally done it and when that hits you, you can’t really stop the emotions”.
But any thoughts of the Russian recording a shock victory were quickly extinguished as Biles produced a fine beam effort to take her clear of her opponents.
Great Britain’s Ellie Downie came 13th, just missing out on becoming the best performing female British gymnast in an Olympic all-around final.
US superstar Simone Biles has won all-around gymnastics gold in the Rio Olympics.
Former Olympic women’s all-around gold medalist Nastia Liukin called Biles “the best gymnast who ever lived”. “To me I’m just the same Simone”.

As Biles completed her final soaring tumbling pass on the floor, no one in the Rio Olympic Arena needed to wait for the judges’ verdict to realise they had just seen the gold medal-winning performance.
