The victor of four gold medals was swamped by demands for pictures next to the famous “Biles smile”. Brazilians also believe he is the first to ever wear a wristwatch, an invention made by a friend so he could see the time in flight. Biles won four gold medals in the women’s individual all-around event, team all-around, vault and floor exercise, and she won the bronze medal in the balance beam.

“Athletes from various countries kept stopping Biles during the ceremony to take the flawless selfie with her.” the magazine reported.

I’m carrying the flag for closing ceremony!

“Phelps is so much taller and he seemed to carry it so easily, and I’m very short”.

Biles’ Final Five teammate Gabby Douglas was already home in Virginia, deciding not to take part in the closing ceremony. At 9 feet long, it’s nearly twice as tall as the 4-foot-8 Biles.

Only one other gymnast has served as an Olympic flag bearer: Alfred Jochim, who did so at Opening Ceremonies of the Berlin 1936 Games.

Her five medals matches marks set by Nastia Liukin in 2008, Shannon Miller in 1992 and Mary Lou Retton in 1984.

Douglas told People magazine she had a “fantastic” time at the games.
