Simone Biles wins record-tying 4th Olympic gymnastics gold

She stopped herself with her hands, which counts as a “fall” for scoring.

Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas has already made history on the mats, first in London in 2012 and again at this year’s Summer Games in Rio.

Simone Biles is no longer Rio de Janeiro’s juggernaut. Yet going 5 for 5 was always somebody else’s deal.

Simone Biles is one of our favorite people, not just because of her prowess on the balance beam, but because of her awesome attitude.

“I’m not disappointed in the medal that I received because anyone would love to have a bronze at an Olympics Games”, Biles told the AP.

Even if it wasn’t quite good enough to stand atop the podium for once.

Biles embraced her longtime coach shortly after her routine – which includes a tumbling pass named in her honor and a Brazilian-themed segment meant to play to the crowd in Rio – and beamed when her score of 15.966 was posted.

“It’s something that you guys shove into my head, and at 19, I can’t put that much stress on myself because I am only 19”, Biles said.

“I am disappointed in how I performed my beam set. Thanks to everyone who believed in me and supported me”, Raisman tweeted out after she got the silver medal in the individual all-around event. “I am happy to do something for my country”. “It’s life and it happens and yes, she is human”. Even she was surprised.

It needed to be for Wevers to edge Hernandez.

-American gymnast Danell Leyva won silver in the men’s parallel bars final behind Ukraine’s Oleg Verniaiev gold-medal performance. “I’m very proud of that”.

“I don’t know who decided that”, Bolt said. “I could probably sprint on the beam if I want to”.

Raisman, who won gold four years ago, will test Biles, yet there’s a strong chance of each closing her Rio tenure with another medal.

Prior to her Olympic debut, Biles was worth a reported $2 million from prize money and endorsements, according to E!

“She does those same exact routines in practice”, Biles said. “She’s worked so hard incredibly hard during her comeback”.

As the report explained, Biles and her USA teammate Aly Raisman shared the podium days ago after competing in the All-Around competition and tonight, they are also expected to take the top two spots. True stardom awaits her once she returns home, a notion Biles is vaguely aware of but trying to tune out.

The door to victory was opened when top favourite Simone Biles, who has already won three gold medals in Rio, nearly fell from the beam, losing a full point. One momentary lapse on Monday did nothing to diminish Biles’ extraordinary time in Rio.
