A day after the Telangana government felicitated them for the historic achievement, the Andhra Pradesh government went out of the way to give them a rousing reception.

Earlier, Tendulkar had also presented a Maruti Swift to Sindhu, when she won the girls’ singles title in the Asian Youth Under-19 Championship in 2012.

The Andhra Pradesh government left no stone unturned to give Sindhu and her coach a memorable reception. Some people claimed that she was born and brought up in Hyderabad, so she is Telangana’s bidda (kid).

At the Gannavaram Airport, they were accorded a warm welcome by the state ministers. Sindhu, who is yet to get over the jet lag after a almost 30-hour flight, will now head to Vijaywada, where the Andhra Pradesh government has planned a copy-cat ride from the airport to a stadium.

This was followed by a huge victory rally from the airport to the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium.

Sindhu is being taken in a procession to Gachibowli stadium where Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao will be felicitating her. And on this occasion, which has made the entire nation proud, cricket great Sachin Tendulkar will be presenting her a BMW auto. “Sindhu has inspired many women in the country and Gopichand played a crucial role in shaping the champion”.

In an interview Sindhu was asked what’s her take on the issue, thankfully, her coach once again came to her rescue and said Sindhu belongs to India.

On her part, while thanking the state government for the honour, Sindhu recalled her visits to the city as a child.
