A Singapore Airlines aircraft collapsed at Changi Airport with no passengers or crew on board on Sunday morning.

As the AP pointed out, another Singapore Airlines Airbus A330-300 recently suffered a mishap as well.

Photos of the plane emerged on social media showing the Airbus A330-300 resting on the crumpled landing gear.

SIA said the aircraft – registered 9V-STG – was undergoing a landing gear system operation check at the terminal’s Gate A17 on October. 11 when apparently the gear retracted unintentionally, causing the front of the aircraft to collapse onto the apron. An engineer who was on the aircraft was not injured. Singapore Airlines is fully cooperating with authorities. “An assessment will be carried out after it is removed from the gate”, said SIA.

Another plane was used for the flight to Hong Kong, taking off more than 40 minutes after the scheduled departure time. The airline then made a decision to charter another aircraft for safety measures.
