The long-haul, low-cost, wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines will also operate flights to Jaipur in the latter part of the year, its country head, Bharath Mahadevan said. Scoot’s entry is resulting in some capacity adjustments and Scoot is taking over Tigerair’s flight between Singapore and Chennai.

Scoot will operate a daily flight to Chennai with a Boeing 787-800 aircraft. “One-way economy fares from Chennai, Amritsar and Jaipur start from $64 to Singapore and $189 to Sydney, $179 and $459 for ScootBiz to Singapore and Sydney respectively”, Scoot said in a statement. Services to Jaipur will be launched from October 2, ” Mahadevan told PTI.

Indian skies will soon open up to a new foreign carrier, Scoot, the low-priced and medium haul arm of Singapore Airlines group.

“In fact, we have more direct worldwide flights out of India than any other Indian carrier as well except Air India Ltd, ” Mahadevan said.

Budget carrier Scoot is entering the Indian market in a big way, offering new destinations and options for travellers.
