Singapore PM assures to share expertise for AP’s dev

On the second day of his visit to Singapore, Naidu met the prime minister to extend the invitation, according to a statement issued here.

On a whirlwind tour of Singapore, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is hard selling the recent World Bank ranking that hailed the southern state as one of the most preferred business destination.

Thanking the Singapore Government for submitting the capital region development plan and the masterplan, he invited the Singapore premier to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new capital on October 22 along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Replying to the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister said that Singapore will support Andhra Pradesh and will share whatever expertise and experience it has.

Explaining how Andhra Pradesh has set its eyes on long-term development and growth, the Chief Minister told Loong that the government is planning to make the state a logistics hub.

“We will build a capital city with the best institutions”, he said, adding that it will be the “best city not just in terms of administration, but also in economic activities and entertainment”.

The master plans for Amaravati was done by Singapore’s state owned town planner Surbana Jurong Pte Ltd and the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the country for their help. Following this, the Chief Minister explained the main features of Amaravati and how it will be constructed as a sustainable and smart city for future generations.

Even as there was an intense criticism against KCR for flying to China in a special chartered flight along with his team by spending huge amount of public money, Naidu too is flying to Singapore in a chartered flight along with his 11-member delegation on a three-day mission from September 20. He will also review the planning for the civic district, Marina Bay and also study the concept plan and the master plan.
