Singapore to Provide $75000 Assistance to Flood-Hit Chennai

Road connectivity to various places has been restored, while city bus service has become functional and power supply to more than 90% of the city has been restored, too.

State authorities are reportedly investigating complaints of negligence by officials at MIOT International hospital in the city hit by massive floods.

“We hope that this will be of some assistance to those affected by the floods, and demonstrate Singapore’s solidarity with the people of Tamil Nadu during this hard period”, Balakrishnan added.

Passenger flights to and from Chennai, India’s fourth largest city, will resume at 0600 hours local time on December 6, the federal government said in a statement late on Saturday, but only day flights for the time being.

Heavy rainfall and flooding during India’s rainy monsoon season claim many lives and cause property damage every year. However, four ferry flights parked at the Chennai airport departed for Delhi, Mumbai and Port Blair on Saturday, while one Cargo flight Singcargo B747 departed for Singapore via Bangalore.
