Celine Dion’s husband and manager Rene Angelil has died at the age of 73 at his suburban Las Vegas home. Our thoughts are with the entire Dion family during this bad time of loss. He also has three grown up children from a previous relationship.
Celine Dion with husband Rene Angelil. “It’s very painful. It’s a matter of days or hours”, she told the paper after visiting her brother in the hospital.
Angelil was Dion’s manager for decades and was constantly seen by her side.
Born in Quebec to Lebanese- Syrian immigrants, Angelil started out as a dabbler in yeye – 1960s French music – before trying his hand at comedy and finally settling on a career in music management.
After the show, Dion seemed moved by her return, writing on Twitter.com, “Thank you for all your love, Tonight was not a new day, tonight was not really a new show”.
In 1999, her song My Heart Will Go On, from the soundtrack of the film Titanic, won two Grammy awards.
“It looks a lot like René, he had cancer of the throat, tongue and brain”, says Claudette Dion, another of the singer’s 13 siblings.
Angelil’s lawyer revealed the terms of the confidential settlement to a grand jury that indicted Sung and her husband on charges of extortion and bribery.

Angelil was first diagnosed with skin cancer while they were trying to conceive their first child. Rene also died of throat cancer.
