Singer Chris Brown arrested after standoff at Los Angeles home
After a weird, hourslong standoff, L.A. police officers took Chris Brown into custody late Tuesday afternoon and said the singer would be arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. “The incident involved the residence of Mr Chris Brown, where officers responded and met with that person”, LAPD Lieutenant Chris Ramirez said, according to the Mirror.

Speaking to the newspaper, Curran claims that she and a friend had been invited to Brown’s home by a business associate.
Brown, who claims he was asleep while the alleged incident happened, took to Instagram before his arrest on Tuesday to reject the woman’s claims and deny any wrongdoing in a series of videos. “[The friend] was calling me names and that’s when Chris Brown kind of went off, pulled out a gun and said, ‘Get the f-k out'”.
Brown maintained his innocence from the start and his reps told ABC News in a statement that “her statements are unequivocally untrue” and “a complete fabrication”.
The development ended a standoff that began hours earlier Tuesday when the woman called from outside the home. “Every three months y’all come up with something”, Brown said. Several others also exited the property, and reportedly no arrests have yet been made.
In fresh footage, Brown, who was wearing a white T-shirt, red cap and jeans, could be seen peacefully leaving his building 11 hours later with his lawyer Mark Geragos.
Brown has been in repeated legal trouble since his conviction in the 2009 felony assault of his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. A neighbour called the police. He dismissed TV reports that he was barricaded inside. Ramirez did not identify the woman or elaborate on the assistance she needed. The neighbor called the police, according to the Times. He says detectives hope to talk to Brown, the woman, and any witnesses.
Police obtained a search warrant and were searching his Tarzana home, authorities said at a news briefing outside the home shortly before 1 p.m.
Geragos could not be reached by Reuters for comment.
Brown was charged with a misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a license in 2013 in Los Angeles, and pleaded guilty to physically hitting a man in Washington, D.C., the following year.
