In a text message to The STAR, CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said the BI has requested the agency not to issue a clearance for takeoff of Brown’s private jet.
Stuck in Philippines over fraud complaint, Chris Brown pleads “please, let us leave”.
The 26-year-old R&B singer was prevented from leaving on a private plane yesterday, a day after a packed concert in Manila.
Brown must prove there are no grounds to charge him with fraud before he is allowed to leave the country, the immigration bureau says.
Press reports said he was holed up in a Manila hotel two days after his Tuesday concert at another Manila venue. “I don’t know, I’m reading headlines after headlines, what the f*ck!” He then breaks into dance as people laugh.
As Brown waited for his travel problems to be resolved, he took to Instagram.com and shared an expletive-laden video, in which he admitted to being confused by the whole controversy. “Please.” He captioned the video, “OBAMA!!!!!” It was put in place to compel him to pay money that promoters said was owed to them after he failed to appear for a previous appearance scheduled for last New Year’s Eve.
“Had Complainant Corporation known beforehand that respondent Brown had no intention of honoring his commitment to appear and perform at the concert, then it would not have delivered a single centavo”, it added.
Prosecutor General Claro Arellano said the complaint, filed by the Maligaya Development Corp through Deo Marco, was being handled by state prosecutor Christine Buencamino.
She said the Justice Department order directs the bureau to “take prudent steps to verify on the status of the criminal case against the subjects”.
