Siri Creators Unveil Viv, Their Newest AI Project
Now, the original creators are preparing to reveal a new artificial intelligence technology that’s better than any virtual assistant out there, according to a report in the Washington Post.

Cheyer and Kittlaus are well known for developing Siri, the virtual assistant bought by Apple in 2010 to be incorporated into its iOS devices.
Facebook and Google – which have both reportedly made offers to Viv – are no different in their pursuit of the latest bot technology. The new software is called Viv and it’s powered by an AI brain that can do much more than just tell the weather.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide product marketing Phil Schiller standing in front of an image showing thought bubbles discusses the new personal assistant called Siri for the new iPhone 4s at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. But one promising startup could wind up beating them all: Viv. Then, a text from Viv piped up: “Would you like toppings with that?”
Viv, the next virtual assistant from two of Siri’s founders is set to be unveiled to the world on Monday, reports The Washington Post.
Also, Kittlaus and Cheyer did not want Siri to be just an intelligent AI chatbot and the goal was to primarily reinvent mobile commerce.
By integrating closely with third-party apps, Viv can accomplish more than Siri ever has been able to.
Voice assistants have been catching on, offering a hands-free and more natural way to ask questions, find information and manage busy lives.
Viv will receive its first public demonstration at a conference on May 9.
“It’s about taking the way that humans have naturally interacted with each other for thousands of years and applying that to the way they interact with services”, Kittlaus, Viv’s chief executive, told the Post. Hence, now Viv can replace that one member of your gang who orders pizza and hey you won’t even have to share food with it. But Viv could prove to be a superior alternative.

The biggest issue Kittlaus and Cheyer hope to tackle with Viv is the conversational way people speak. Viv, along with Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, Microsoft’s Cortana, Google Now, and others, will be vying to fulfill your spoken commands.
