The battery on the iPad mini 2 is nearly 30% bigger than the one on the newer iPad mini 4, so you can count that as a plus as well.

Still, with a 2048 x 2732 screen, a luxurious metal build, an Apple A9X processor and 4GB of RAM it just about justifies the price tag.
Unfortunately there are not a lot of cases available now for the iPad Pro, but there are a lot in the works.
The new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will be coming in with a 12.3-inch display screen with 2736 x 1824 resolution and 267ppi. “More specifically, Cue talked about the iPad Pro noting how Apple has often gone against what people think they need in a device in favor of the company’s own opinions on what is right”. That claim is key to understanding the iPad Pro’s target audience – consumers who want the productivity of a laptop but in tablet form. The new iPad Pro is Apple’s desperate attempt to regain iPad’s lost ground. Apple never seems to stop making more and more different types of iPads and the iPad Pro could possibly be their biggest hit yet.
The new Surfaces launched in October (though the Surface Book has been back-ordered since launch), while the iPad Pro should be launching soon. On the other hand, the Apple iPad Pro has a larger 12.9-inch screen, weighs 1.57 pounds and 264 PPI resolution.
That means all iPad Pro apps are sandboxed and come from the App store, there’s no direct access to the file system and you can’t make any command-level tweaks.
Primary mode The Surface Book is a laptop with a slide-off screen that you can use in short bursts as a huge tablet (or “Clipboard”).

Cue also noted of an interesting anecdote, saying that Apple developed the iPhone essentially by accident, and that they were really trying to make the iPad. As a Smart Cover, it can also be used to prop up the tablet for practical purposes.
