Later in the same month, a teenager armed with an axe and knife attacked passengers on another train in Germany, injuring a score of people.

The man who attacked passengers on a crowded Swiss train with a knife and burning liquid died of his wounds Sunday, as did one of his victims, a 34-year-old woman, Swiss police said.

“The question of motive remains”, police from Switzerland’s eastern Saint Gallen region said in a statement, stressing: “To date there is no indication this was a terrorist or politically motivated act”.

“According to the information we have for the time being, the 27-year-old Swiss man poured out a flammable liquid”.

Police spokesman Hans-Peter Kruesi told The Associated Press authorities have not been able to interrogate the 27-year-old suspect, a Swiss man from a neighboring canton, due to his condition. Three others remain hospitalized with serious wounds.

Thus, a massive contingent of police St.Gallen Canton firefighters with three rescue helicopters, two emergency physicians, three ambulances and experts from the railway companies have arrived the scene.
