Six People in Bexar County Tested for Zika Virus
Specimens of Aedes aegypti mosquito are exhibited during a campaign to raise awareness of preventing the entry of the Zika virus into the country, at the Health Ministry in Lima, Peru January 27, 2016. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now testing specimens from several Georgia residents with travel history to the affected areas. “An infected mosquito can then transmit the virus to other people”.

Thirty-one Americans have been diagnosed with a Zika infection.
During the meeting, Nadda directed constitution of a technical group with immediate effect which would monitor the situation arising out of spread of Zika virus in other countries so that it can advise further on all the necessary steps that need to be taken. Brazil, the hardest-hit country, has reported around 3,700 cases of the devastating birth defect called microcephaly that are strongly suspected to be related to Zika.
There are 20,297 confirmed cases of the disease in Colombia, the national health institute said in a epidemiology bulletin, among them 2,116 pregnant women.
Cambodia’s only Zika case recovered in 2010 after treatment.
The mosquitoes that carry the virus, Aedes albopictus, are not found in Pennsylvania; however another species of mosquito found in the commonwealth has the ability to carry it. Robinson said the state will “double down” on its efforts to track mosquitoes when the weather warms up. It’s also urging people to destroy mosquito-breeding places.
Earlier figures from the health ministry showed 560 pregnant women had the disease, out of more than 13,500 infections.
“Community awareness plays an instrumental role in this regard”.
Secretary for Food and Health Dr. Ko Wing-man also said that because only up to one quarter of the infected persons might develop relatively mild illness, “the attention was therefore not too big”.

Meanwhile, Colombian authorities have ordered hospitals to prepare, as the government expects more than 600,000 people to become infected with the virus. The virus is spread by biting mosquitoes.
