As of Sunday, some 151 shootings had been reported in Boston this year, a 25 percent increase from the same period last year.
After a night in which shootings around Greater Boston left five people dead, including three in Boston, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is again pleading for an end to gun violence.
One man, in his 20s, was fatally shot in Mattapan.
According to police spokeswoman Rachel McGuire, the two additional male victims suffered non life threatening injuries and were taken to Boston Medical Center for treatment.
Walsh said he is “extremely saddened and disturbed”.
Several others were wounded in the shootings. The victim then drove to Main Street, near the Marriott Hotel in Kendall Square.
Police in Cambridge, meanwhile, say the driver of a vehicle seen leaving the area of a fatal shooting near the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at 8:41 p.m.is “cooperating”, and they are still actively searching for suspects.

There is no indication so far that any of the shootings are related. Gunfire broke out again on Norton Street in Roxbury about 4:30 p.m. yesterday, sending one man to the hospital with serious injuries. “The Everett police force is comprised of over 100 well- qualified officers and they are pursuing this case diligently”.
