Sixers trade for Ish Smith, waive Wroten
Although he was signed the day before the start of the regular season, Smith scored 17 points and had nine assists in 38 minutes in the opener against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena.

This is the first trade for Philadelphia since Jerry Colangelo was named chairman of basketball operations.
However, that all changed on Christmas Eve when the Philadelphia 76ers acquired point guard Ish Smith from the New Orleans Pelicans for two second-round picks.
By acquiring two second-round picks from the 76ers, the Pelicans are getting future assets that they can use for either a future trade or to draft young talent depending on how good the picks that they are receiving are. Before Smith’s playing time diminished this month, he ranked fifth in assists with a 7.5 average.
Point guard Ish Smith is headed back to the Philadelphia 76ers. At one point in the season, Smith was in the top 5 in assists per game.
To make room for Smith on the 15-man roster, the Sixers waived guard Tony Wroten. Last season, he averaged 16.9 points in 30 games.

Wroten played in only eight games this season due to injuries. They return to play Saturday at Phoenix.
