Sized Prince George cake scoops top prize

Her Prince George creation stands at almost 3ft and took 30 hours to build.

She faces competition from a giant tyrannosaurs rex bursting out of a Jurassic Park set and a Star Wars Yoda making a cake levitate.

Building on that success she won another silver this year for a cake she calls “Scare Bear”, a twist on the children’s Care Bear toy.

Mrs Mason, from Walsall, West Midlands, said: “The feedback from the judges was they loved what I did”. Clarke said that when the cake was life-size and put on the table, the smaller details of the face and other aspects could not be seen properly.

The cake was built on a skeleton of steel, wood and PVC tubing.

Last year, Mrs Mason baked a life-sized cake of Jennifer Lawrence’s character in The Hunger Games, and judges advised her to focus on detail to scoop the top award for a second year.

Lara’s creation was one of 1,000 entries at the Cake worldwide competition being held at the Birmingham’s NEC.
