Donald Trump’s hardline stance on immigration after two bombings in the NY area again sparked debate on the White House campaign trail Tuesday, as his son sparked a firestorm by comparing Syrian refugees to lethal sweets.

“Daily Show” host Trevor Noah on Tuesday responded to Donald Trump Jr.’s now-legendary tweet comparing Syrian refugees to Skittles.
“It is remarkable to me to see the level of outrage about a metaphor used by (Donald Trump Jr.) when Hillary Clinton’s calling for a 550 per cent increase in the Syrian refugee program”, Pence said.
He captioned the post with: “This image says it all”. Trump Jr. further editorialized in his tweet, saying “Let’s end the politically correct agenda that doesn’t put America first”.
Philip Bump, from the Washington Post, worked out a bowl would need to contain around 10.93 billion Skittles in order for the three deadly Skittle analogy to work.
Ironically, however, the tweet attempting to justify Trump’s harsh anti-refugee policies wouldn’t have been possible without the talent of refugees. The popular candy, M&Ms, has been employed in the past.
“I am now a British citizen but I am Greek-Cypriot by birth and in 1974 I was a refugee because of the Turkish occupation”, Kittos told the BBC.
And it turns out the photographer who took the picture of the bowl of Skittles was once a refugee himself. “Our property and our possessions”.
During the campaign Trump has repeatedly called for a moratorium on accepting Syrian refugees.

Wrigley, the company that owns Skittles, said in a statement following the controversial tweet, “Skittles are candy”.
“But they are probably not interested in what I have to say”, he told BBC, adding he didn’t know if he had the will to take legal action.

In his tweet, Trump Jr asserted: “This image says it all. And yes, for the record, I would eat all of them”. And Trump Jr.’s tweet comes on the heels of weekend bombings in NY and New Jersey.
