Skoda VisionS plug-in hybrid concept revealed with 225 hp

The car’s styling is also in line with 2014’s VisionC concept, which ushered in a new design language for the brand. When launched, it will compete with the premium SUV segment of the country with rivals like new Endeavour, next-gen Fortuner and Pajero Sport along with upcoming VW Tiguan.

After releasing design sketches earlier, Skoda has now published official images of the VisionS concept SUV.

The Skoda Vision S SUV Concept has been revealed ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show, previewing the production Skoda Kodiak SUV.

With a length of 4,700 mm, width of 1,910 mm and height of 1,680 mm, the VisionS is bigger than today’s Skoda Yeti. The SUV will be powered by a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine that develops 156PS and 250Nm, coupled to an electric motor that develops 55PS and 220Nm. The VisionS is capable of travelling up to 31 miles on electric power alone, with a combined range of 621 miles. This works alongside an e-motor that provides 40 kW of 40 kW continuous power and 220 Nm peak torque.

Another 85kW/270Nm electric motor helps drive the rear wheel axle while the first electric motor drives the front. The VisionS can reach 62 miles per hour from a stop in 7.4 seconds and it goes on to a top speed of 124 miles per hour.

Inside, there’s said to be large digital tablet displays to allows the VisionS’s passengers to access the internet and infotainment system on the move. The total system output for the hybrid powertrain is rated at 222bhp and gives the vehicle a so-called “smart” all-wheel drive (AWD) system without the need for mechanical coupling.
