The 31-year-old struggled to convince Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp that he was worthy of a regular starting place following a hard 2015-16 campaign for the Slovakia worldwide.
The 29-year-old, who played for Udinese and Roma in the Serie A before signing for Bayern in 2014, made 23 appearances for the German club last season.
“I already know about Fenerbahce as a team and a club”.
Speaking after his departure was sealed, he said: “I’m happy to be here”. I did not expect this kind of welcome. I’m eagerly awaiting tomorrow as well.
“Fenerbahce is a massive club and for these reasons I accepted this offer”.
The official UEFA Champions League Twitter account did however, post a tweet claiming that Fenerbahce paid €6m million for the Slovakian worldwide. “It’s an extra motivation and it’ll help me make enormous progress”.
The five-time European Champions finished a disappointing eighth last season conceding 50 goals in the process- Klopp has since brought in Joel Matip from Schalke and has highly talented Joe Gomez returning to the Liverpool backline.
