Slovakia defender Jan Durica has suggested that his team’s defeat to England was fixed because of Martin Skrtel’s sending-off.
It was first notable incident in an otherwise drab debut for England manager Sam Allardyce.
England created five shots on target during the match, while Slovakia failed to register a single one.
Skrtel’s dismissal meant Slovakia played more than half an hour with 10 men in the game, which England won 1-0 through Adam Lallana’s injury-time goal.
The former Liverpool centre-back, who now plays for Fenerbahce, was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card in the 57th minute of the World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
“There is only one place at the World Cup”.
Liverpool fans enjoyed a long and stormy relationship with Martin Skrtel in his eight year stay at the club, but there was not a single Red surprised to see the Slovakian given his marching orders against England. “Probably the referee exactly knew how to do it”.
The Slovakia global was shown a second yellow card by referee Milorad Mažić but the challenge itself was deserving of a straight red. “We were really unhappy”, he added.
Jan Durica and England’s Adam Lallana battle for the ball. I will have a check on it and see if it’s fully okay, but there were a few challenges that I felt could have earned him a yellow card but it didn’t come.

“I think I didn’t score in my first seven or eight games and then to go on and win the golden boot proves that it was just a matter of time”.
