Sky Q goes on sale
Those taking Sky Broadband with Sky Q, or are already with Sky Broadband when taking the new system, also get a Sky Q Hub on installation. Prices start at £42 per month, and there’s a £250 setup fee that you have to swallow as well.

For more information on charges, check out our Sky Q price guide. Sky Q requires an 18-month contract, too.
If you stump up £54 per month for the upgraded Sky Q Silver box, you can record four channels and watch a fifth.
And a new wireless multi-room Q Mini box beams content seamlessly to other parts of your home without the need for any installation.
Other handy extras include a Sky Q touch remote, which connects to the set top box via Bluetooth rather than the traditional infrared.
So is Sky Q more expensive than existing Sky+HD? All told, if you want the Sky Q Silver box plus the various Sky TV packages, it’ll cost you £88.50 per month.
This new service is the latest innovation from Sky with the satellite firm boasting that it will “Set your TV free”.
Daily Star Online has been lucky enough to take Sky Q for a spin and we’ve certainly liked what we’ve seen, but Sky customers have got a big decision to make.
It’s worth noting that if you take both Movies and Sports together you’ll save £8 per month. Set-up costs will be from just £99 (€130).

Sky said that set-up costs for Sky Q will start at £99 – its lowest ever set-up cost for a brand new premium product launch – and that the typical monthly cost for existing Sky+ customers will “only be around an extra £12 compared with their current Sky+ package”. If you don’t have Sky broadband, Sky Movies or Sky Sports, the Q box will be £249 and the Q Silver box will be £299. It can support one tablet and one Sky Q mini box. There’s still no word on whether 4K will cost extra, though; it won’t be ready at launch, but should be coming later in the year.
