Skype Android app gets an update for Android Wear support

The updated Skype 6.4 is now available to download via Google Play and majorly brings Android Wear compatibility. There are pre-loaded responses already created for you just in case you’re busy getting to the bank before it closes or too lazy to speak on your own.

Oh and let’s not forget emoji, you can draw an emoji on your wearable’s face with your finger for Skype to select the right one. The Android Wear app works with certain smartwatches such as the LG Watch Urbane and its luxury variant, the Moto 360, the Asus ZenWatch and Huawei’s new iOS-compatible Android Wear watch.

“We’ve redesigned Skype to be much more natural and intuitive, and have added a bunch of new capabilities to make it even more delightful to use”, stated the Skype Team earlier this month. Users can also respond to messages directly from the Android Wear device and “use voice-to-text” by speaking to their wrists.

No limitations as to which devices can run Skype 6.4 were announced, Engadget reports. We have been waiting for this feature for a while, and the increase in these queries is because you are now able to better Manage Conversations from your Android Wear smartwatch.

A hands-free conversation is also possible through a wireless Bluetooth speaker or a headset.

Here’s the full changelog with a link to grab the app from the Play Store below (or from APK Mirror if you prefer it that way).

The updated Skype app can also answer calls from the smartwatch, though not all Android Wear offerings will be supported.
