It is worth mentioning that companies that will want to adopt the new Skype for Businesses SDK will be able to continue to use their native clients to reach their customers.

Microsoft explained the objective of the new SDK Preview during Build 2016, and it explained how it would be convenient for developers to integrate Skype for Business into tablet and mobile applications. Microsoft already previewed the Skype for Business App SDK at Build 2016 and explained its aim to make the service easy to integrate into native mobile and tablet applications. At Build, Microsoft presented an interesting use case: An early user of the SDK, MDLIVE beefed up its existing telehealth offerings with the ability to securely enable communications and information sharing between patients and healthcare organizations. The audio/video calling app itself is taking a risk with this move, given that its own standalone Android and iOS versions might be used comparatively less by businesses. The initial focus of the SDK is to power what Microsoft calls remote advisor solutions that let consumer iOS and Android apps embed communications from external guests to users within a company using Skype for Business, formerly Microsoft Lync.
This will enable end-user mobile and tablet apps to communicate effectively with Skype for Business organisations.

“The Skype for Business team is always on the lookout for new ways to bring greater value to our customers”, said James Skay, senior product marketing manager for the Skype for Business team. “The adoption of Skype for Business also enables us to deliver a significantly improved user experience for both patients and physicians”. The service is chiefly targeted at large enterprises, and it can run together with Skype for Business Server and Skype for Business Online. The first SDK preview will enable companies deploying Skype for Business to update their own mobile apps. After they perform the update, their users will have the option of talking to the company through the app.
