One user from Italy described her approach toward the problem: “1) Log off and in 2) Clean cookies 3) Turn off and on 4) Uninstall and download again 5) Complain on Twitter”. The annual Mobile World Congress hosts some of the wold’s largest communication companies, with many unveiling their latest phones and wearables gadgets.
Skype confirmed the outage problem on its support page, and also through its own Twitter feed.
What was affected by the issue include the calling functionality and status updates.
The BBC are reporting that a bug with the status system is the issue, with people being permanent shown as offline.
Microsoft’s voice and messaging application, Skype, recently reported a major service interruption. Skype didn’t disclose how many of its 300 million registered users were impacted. Group messaging was also effected and the issue in general arose from a problem with the status part of Skype.
According to TechRadar, they were given a message by a Microsoft spokesperson saying, “We are working hard to fix an issue which is preventing some users from logging in and using Skype”.
It added that the problems had not affected business customers who use Skype for Business, a paid-for version of the service.
