Skyrim Remastered: Bethesda talks save problems following mods bombshell

Bethesda had planned to allow the use of mods on two of its games for PS4 and Xbox One: Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition, it has a view to reducing the capabilities gap between the versions for PC and consoles.

The latest update on “Fallout 4” and “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special” on PlayStation 4 revealed that these will not include mod support.

It’s a worrying development for PS4 owners who had been told to expect mod support for Fallout 4 months ago. Bethesda announced that Sony Interactive Entertainment did not approve user mods in the manner that they should work.

Bethesda has confirmed that Xbox One and PS4 versions of Skyrim Special Edition will not support save files from older editions of the game.

The developer claims that Sony won’t approve mods the way they should work: “After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have always been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4”.

“Fallout 4” videogame developer Bethesda regretfully announced on its website Sony’s final verdict about mod support for the PS4 – a sad, resounding “no”. They hope that they can look for other approaches that user mods can be made available for PlayStation 4 gamers, since they have waited a long time for mod support to arrive.

Bethesda has said that it will update fans if the situation changes, but Sony doesn’t seem likely to change its mind. It’s definitely disappointed a lot of console fans of the game. “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition” is set to launch on October 28, 2016.
