Slain California university stabbing suspect studied engineering
The construction worker was treated and released Wednesday, University Communications said. Warnke said in a news conference on Thursday that Mohammad’s backpack included a handwritten list of items to collect. Officials recovered all but one of the listed items – scissors.

Following the stabbing violence, Price, perhaps November’s top American Samaritan, reportedly drove himself from the UC Merced campus to the hospital where he received nine staples.
UC Merced, which opened September 5, 2005, is the newest campus in the University of California system and is near Yosemite National Park.
Officials said that minutes after walking into his second-story classroom on Wednesday morning, Mohammad attacked another student with a knife.
Stabbings involving multiple victims on college campuses have not raised as much alarm as mass shootings since the attacks do not usually result in as many deaths or injuries. After allegedly stabbing the four victims, the suspect fled the scene and was pursued by campus police before being shot on a bridge about 40 yards away from the building where the first attack took place, according to authorities.
The stabbing suspect who was killed by authorities after he attacked four on the University of California, Merced, campus was not a terrorist and motivated only by “personal animosity”, the school’s chancellor said on Thursday. All the victims are recovering.
When conducting the autopsy of Faisal Mohammad, 18, a two page manifesto was found. Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke says it read that Mohammad’s anger started with a dispute between classmates. He was identified Thursday as Faisal Mohammad of Santa Clara, a freshman majoring in computer science and engineering.
But, Warnke said, things did not go as planned. “I don’t think he had any actual capabilities to carry this out”. “His plan went haywire because people fought back”.
“He had delusions of grandeur”, the sheriff said.
There was no outward warning that a quiet 18-year-old would burst into a university classroom and slash fellow students over a dispute about a study group, investigators say. Leland added: “We don’t know yet what the trigger was for this event”. The FBI is assisting in the investigation, he said. Mohammad was born in the United States. He is credited with preventing Mohammad from killing that student.
Confronting Mohammad, Price was stabbed in his left side, and also described Mohammad the stabber as looking disturbingly pleased while carrying out his attack. “His eyes, I could see fear in his eyes”.
Students held two vigils Wednesday night at two different locations as an attempt to bring the community together show their support for the victims and as well as for the campus and show their solidarity during this time of crisis and grieving, Ortiz said.
“We had no idea of what this individual was capable of”, he said.
When he wouldn’t, the officer asked if Mohammad wanted to get shot, she said.
Authorities shot and killed Mohammad after a chaotic morning. He lost contact with Mohammad after they graduated from high school in Santa Clara, California, in June. “He was intelligent, too – he performed well academically”.

A high school friend, Ish Patel, says Mohammad was friendly and loved basketball, going to the mosque to pray and playing video games with his friends.
