Slain nuns being honored in funerals in Kentucky, Wisconsin
Hundreds of people filled Saint Vincent Church in Nazareth, Kentucky, to say goodbye to 68-year-old Sister Paula Merrill, who was murdered inside of her MS home last week. Held was part of the School Sisters of St. Francis in Milwaukee. Sister Held earned a master’s degree in 1994 and served for many years as a preceptor for The W’s family nurse practitioner students.

Merrill and another nun, Sister Margaret Held, were stabbed to death a week ago in their home in Durant, Miss., where they worked in a medical clinic.
Sister Paula Merrill received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from The W in 1988 and her master’s from the University of Alabama at Huntsville in 1996.

Rodney Earl Sanders, 46, has been charged with two counts of capital murder in the deaths of two nuns, according to The Clarion-Ledger. They say now’s the time to focus on her legacy of a lifetime dedicated to service.
