Small Business Saturday in the Northland
“The small business need a focus”, said Barbara.

Owner of Salt and Pepper Jessica Pollard says,”That’s the same thing as us supporting our local schools, colleges, any charities”.
Local Scottsbluff business owner, Tom Perkins, owns W.O.W. Meow Inc.in downtown Scottsbluff. It’s just one of many Coral Gables shops proudly displaying “Shop Small” stickers on their front doors. “If you come into the store you are going to be able to find that flawless gift for your mother, brother, really anybody”, said Kaitlin.
“You’re going to be supporting local families who then support the community, it’s a win-win”, said owner Diane Laudo. “Someone to give you information and knowledge about the product you’re buying and I think we can compete with sale prices as much as anybody”, says Loeb.
And customers aren’t just customers. Their style, their taste, it’s kind of fun.
Small businesses are also turning to the internet to bring customers to their stores.
Like many small businesses the Curiosity Shop is offering shopping incentives. It’s probably been the busiest day since I’ve been open and I haven’t been open that long. Cynthia Garcia, an employee at the store, Cynthia Garcia told us, “I’m local and we live and work here and we love it. We love getting to be a part of something that…it’s a true community aspect”.
Small Business Saturday celebrates small businesses across the nation and encourages people to “shop small” on what is traditionally the busiest shopping weekend of the year. Especially in smaller communities where they help makeup the atmosphere of downtown and build an economic engine. 83% say Small Business Saturday promotions make them want to shop at small businesses all year.

Last year, more than 14 billion dollars were spent at local shops on Small Business Saturday.
