Smart Fortwo Cabrio Unveiled, Will Show in Frankfurt
It features a large sliding canvas roof that can be partially opened for a bit of a breeze or fully-opened for a full-on cabrio experience (weather dependent).

The new 2016 Smart Fortwo is better in pretty much every way-except one: fuel economy, which is roughly the same as previous year, at 33/39 for the automatic.
Smart has introduced the new fortwo cabrio ahead of its official debut at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
The new smart fortwo cabrio will be available to order from mid-November, with the first cars arriving February 2016.
Inside, the cabrio is decked out in similar fashion to the smart fortwo hatch and includes a facility for smartphone integration and a MirrorLink display on the dashboard mounted screen. The “tri-top” three-layer fabric roof is four per cent larger than before and 20mm thick, featuring a heated glass rear window. It can be deployed in either direction and at any speed in just 12 seconds at the touch of a button – in the vehicle or on the keyfob. It means the new smart ForTwo Cabrio is the most rigid Smart Cabrio ever. All of this adds up to a 15 percent improvement in stiffness over its predecessor. The removable roof bars that can be stowed in a compartment in the tailgate come in the tridion color.
The Fortwo Cabrio also benefits from the usual assortment of strengthening tricks to make up for the absence of a hardtop roof, including reinforced A-pillars, a special steel cross bar, and stronger bulkheads at both ends.
No weight figures have been confirmed, but it’s likely to be more than the 880kg of the coupe models on account of the extra reinforcement and the electric roof mechanism. We do, however, have the choice of five-speed manual and six-speed dual-clutch transmissions.
It’s powered by a brand-new aluminum turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with 89 horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque.

The three trim levels offered – Passion, Prime and Proxy – also mirror that of the standard Fortwo range. Options include forward collision warning and lane keep assist.
