Jeb Bush answers a question during the CNN Republican Presidential Debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California on September 16, 2015.
On Tuesday, Right to Rise announced another ad in Iowa accusing Rubio of missing a Senate meeting after the November terrorist attacks in Paris, a way of stoking Bush’s criticism of Rubio’s Senate attendance.
So, kneecap Rubio in Iowa to hurt his chances in New Hampshire; take down fellow permanent New Hampshire lodgers Christie and Kasich in New Hampshire itself; and then leave the Granite State as the designated establishment candidate around whom moderates can rally before losing to Donald Trump or Sen.
Right To Rise says it is putting $1.4 million behind the spot over the next two weeks – no small amount, even considering the elevated rates that super PACs must pay to reserve ad time.
The 30-second spot slams Rubio for putting politics first by skipping votes and briefings to attend fundraisers.
But Rubio’s super-PAC, Conservative Solutions, quickly retaliated with a web ad attacking the former Florida governor, suggesting that a season of heretofore mostly positive political advertising is coming to a close.
“Over the last three years Rubio has missed important national-security hearings and missed more total votes than any other senator”, says a voice-over. “It’s sad to see Jeb’s “joyful” campaign reduced to such intellectual dishonesty”, he added. Marco Rubio (Fla.) over their job attendance, telling his 2016 presidential rivals to show up at work or resign.
“The fact that we got some endorsements right at the end, you know, I think that helped a little bit”, he said.
Santorum traveled through Davenport on his way to a stop in the Des Moines area on Tuesday. “Ours is a hybrid of the two built to win”. The former prosecutor is most notably known for his chairmanship of the committee investigating the Benghazi attacks.
The ad mentions that Bush handled nine hurricanes, a veiled shot at Christie’s common citation of his lauded handling of Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
This year, Santorum is banking on the idea that rank-and-file Iowa conservatives won’t follow the leaders.
“They’ve been willing to devote their resources to fighting for principles of religious freedoms and to fight to defend life, fighting to defend marriage, and to fight for the principals the constitution and this country were founded on”, Cruz said of Farris and Dan Wilks.
