Smith says Kobe Bryant should retire. Right now

“Even the great Kobe Bryant can’t be great at age 37 with all of these obstacles joined, colluding with one another to bring him down”, Smith said.

Lakers head coach Byron Scott was asked about a hypothetical matchup between his Showtime squads and the present-day Dubs, and Scott naturally gives the edge to the team that won five titles during the 1980s.

“I would never, never, never do that”, Scott told ESPN on Friday. “But with us, we don’t seem to need that to have success, but I think that’s kind of a rare thing”. Young isn’t exactly mister efficient or the king of sharing the ball, but if Bryant is the mark for everyone to follow, it’s not surprising to see everyone, including Jordan Clarkson, playing hero-ball.

Bryant’s minutes were not the issue in Oakland. With the game in hand, Curry sat out the entire fourth quarter. In doing so, Golden State becomes just the third team in major American pro sports to win this many games to begin a season. He added, “At that particular time we’re down 30 [points]”, Scott said. “The shots that I could take, pull-up shots, jumpers, and contested jumpers”.

Bryant, slowed by age and past injuries, has looked like a shadow of his former self this year and that was never more apparent then against Golden State who blasted the Lakers to improve to a record 16-0.

In a report from the LA Daily News, Scott explained that Williams has “got a couple of opportunities so far early in the season and he’s going to get a lot more”.

But once again, Bryant said he’s fine, that his health is fine, that his shot is fine, and he diverted the conversation elsewhere, largely to his teammates and the team’s overall scheme. But I definitely know I’m capable. I doubt he’ll do it, but I think Kobe should retire right now.

Scott said Bryant has been able to get enough rest.

“I freaking suck”, he said about his disappointing performance.

Houston’s James Harden is next at 27.1 percent on 129 attempts.

“I’m not really anxious about it, honestly”, Bryant said. “It’s been tough. (But) My shooting will be better”.

Scott has already made it clear that Bryant’s minutes won’t be going down, so this isn’t even surprising.
