Smriti Irani celebrates Raksha Bandhan with soldiers at Siachen
Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani on Thursday celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Army Jawans deployed at the Siachen Base Camp Glacier, the highest battleground in the world. Irani tied rakhi on the wrists of soldiers and gave them candies.

She was accompanied by junior Home Minister Kiren Rijiju who said, “We have to push their morale, they are protecting us.the message is you are the brother and you are securing the nation”. “Prime Minister Modi has always celebrated festivals with the jawans”, Irani said.
“It’s an honour for all of us. I am proud to tie Rakhi on their wrists and pray for their well-being”, she added.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti, Women and Child Welfare Minister Maneka Gandhi are also visiting borders areas and interacting with the soldiers.

Union Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal yesterday tied “rakhis” to the Border Security Force (BSF) troopers deployed on the worldwide border at Attari, 30 km from Amritsar. Girls from colleges and schools also tied rakhis to BSF troops at the Attari Border.
