Following the footsteps of search engine giant Google, the Social media app, Snapchat, now known as Snap Inc, has released its own video-recording glasses called “Spectacles”. After five years the company chose to change its name to Snap Inc.
Well, when you tap on the rim of the Spectacles, the device will instantly record whatever is in front of you.
Evan Spiegel, the company’s CEO, said in a statement that “Snapchat Inc.” worked when Snapchat was its only product.
While the video footage is actually stored on the Spectacles themselves, it can be sent via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to your mobile device for later viewing, or uploading to Snapchat. “It’s about us figuring out if it fits into people’s lives and seeing how they like it”. Tap again and you can record up to 30 seconds of video. Snap Inc Launched Video Sunglasses at $130.
The Spectacles, which come in three different colours (red, blue, and black), are expected to go on sale in limited quantities in the US later this year, priced at $130 (£100). It also, much like Google Glass, allows viewers to shoot video at eye-level, giving consumers a chance to record the world exactly as they see it.
What do you think about Snap’s new Spectacles? What if you could go back and see that memory the way you experienced it? For one thing, it takes circular video and images instead of rectangular ones. However, Google Glass didn’t do well on the market, starting at a $1,000 price without people being interested in them, the product stopped selling previous year.

A limited number of Spectacles are expected to be available later this year and will cost $129.99 per pair.
