Snapchat – more users than Twitter?

According to a report from Bloomberg, the messaging app has surpassed Twitter by almost 15 million daily users.

According to Bloomberg, Snapchat now boasts more daily active users than Twitter. Neither Snapchat nor Twitter, however, have publicly responded to the report – we’ve reached out to both companies for comment on the matter (however we do not expect a response).

What’s even more interesting – and impressive – is that Snapchat also reached this amount of daily users in nearly five years, whereas Twitter just celebrated its 10th birthday. This implies a 136 million daily users count.

The latest figure, confirmed by the social media platform last month, marks a steady increase in the app’s video content.

During an interview at The Code Conference, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey praised Snapchat for its modern design and focus on touch screens. The 10-year-old microblogging site once competed in size with Facebook. The Facebook platform is also a de facto publishing platform that allows users to become a journalist as much or as little as desired.

Snapchat’s success and constant growth could be attributed to the way it has introduced new features and filters within the app. However, the report points out that it did disclose a year ago that about 44 percent of monthly users are active each day in its 20 popular markets.

Once seen as the closest rival to Facebook, Twitter has failed to grow its user base in comparison to the king of social media.

Snapchat lets users send selfies with annotations, as well as short videos.

He went on to bravely acknowledge that Twitter can be “confusing and alienating” – something that he is trying to fix.

The app has gained popularity through its faceswap filters which enable users to superimpose a filter over their face for a modified selfie. Stock image
