Snapchat reportedly has more daily users than Twitter

Twitter only shares monthly active users when reporting figures for its quarterly earnings results.

Roughly 150 million people use Snapchat each day, making the messaging app more popular than Twitter, according to a Bloomberg report Thursday. Bloomberg used an average of analysts’ estimates to make the comparison.

Snapchat tends not to announce how many monthly users grace its network, so there’s no affirmative way to know if the network is now more popular than Twitter on that basis.

Snapchat has been growing quickly, boosted by its popularity among young people.

It’s both a major achievement for Snapchat and a bad sign for Twitter.

At the same time, Twitter, which was launched in 2006 had around 140 million users coming to the platform daily via web or mobile platforms.

It’s taken four years for Snapchat to become a bigger part of people’s daily lives than Twitter, which has been around for a decade, according to a report this morning. Twitter has also been overtaken by other Facebook apps, including Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp. Facebook, for instance, remains far ahead, with 1.09 billiondaily active users.

At Recode’s recent Code Conference, Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey admitted that Twitter is still confusing for many new users, and this is something that the company is working hard to fix.
