Snapchat’s latest update has fixed the app’s biggest problem

This feature applies to all content on the Snapchat “My Stories” page, which includes videos from Snapchat Discover (daily content from 11 media partners in the United States), curated feeds from Snapchat called “Live Stories” and the 24-hour posts from the friends your follow. It’s a well known issue among people with limited internet data or costly plans on their phones.

Tens of millions of users means Snapchat used more mobile data in March than every app except YouTube and Facebook during peak periods in North America, the network equipment company Sandvine said.

Snapchat’s latest update with these new features is available now in the App Store and Google Play. The new setting will prevent the app from automatically downloading snaps upon opening, instead requiring the user to tap and download snaps on demand. After a bug in a previous version caused the app to consume an insane amount of data – even in the background – a few users uninstalled and haven’t looked back. They may now breathe slowly and relax without checking their wallets.

Earlier today, we reported on Snapchat’s new update.

The update lets you add a string of emoji to your snaps.

And the last updated feature is for the ones who are data obsessive, tapping the eye icon next to the number of views on your snap will now bring up the list of viewers.
